There is evidence-based research to suggest that sports and physical activity can enhance cognitive development in several ways.

  1. Exercise Promotes Blood Flow and Oxygen to Brain
Regular physical activity has been shown to increase blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain, which can help to improve cognitive function. Studies have also shown that exercise can lead to the production of growth factors that promote the growth of new brain cells and the formation of new neural connections.

  2. Improve Cognitive Focus
Sports and physical activity can help to improve attention, focus, and memory. Research has shown that children who participate in sports have better academic performance and are better able to concentrate and stay on task in the classroom.

  3. Sports Provide Platform for Social Skills Development
Sports can help to develop important social skills, such as teamwork, communication, and leadership, which can also have a positive impact on cognitive development. Developing social skills recruits a different part of the brain (medial prefrontal cortex), which can contribute to greater cognitive development.

  4. Use Kickboxing as the Sport for your Child
With the strong research to support the use of sports as a tool to build cognitive development, use the sport of Kickboxing to build your child's development today! Our kids kickboxing program are perfect for ages 3 to 13, with the syllabus accredited by the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO).

Research has shown that children learn better through play. Play can come through many forms, but for today, we'll focus on play through Kickboxing.

What is Play?
Play essentially is allowing a child to have fun through activities. Play provides opportunities for children to explore, experiment, and problem-solve in a safe and enjoyable environment. Through play, children can develop social skills, language skills, cognitive skills, and physical skills.

How Play can Benefit your Child?
For example, when children engage in imaginative play, they are able to practice communication and social interaction skills, as well as develop their creativity and problem-solving abilities. When children play with blocks or puzzles, they are developing their spatial reasoning and math skills. And when children engage in physical play, such as running, jumping, and climbing, they are developing their gross motor skills and overall physical health.

Play is also an effective way for children to learn and retain new information. When children are interested and engaged in what they are learning, they are more likely to remember and apply that knowledge later on.

Is there Play during our Kickboxing classes?
At the end of each class, we introduce fun kickboxing-based games to reinforce the learnings they have undergone. This helps to strengthen the learning experiences for the child and enhance the absorption of the skills.

Therefore, play is an important part of early childhood education, and parents and educators should encourage children to engage in a variety of play-based activities to promote their development and learning.

Benefits of Kickboxing
Making friends is an essential part of a child's social and emotional development, and it plays an important role in their overall well-being. Here at Active Zone, we encourage children to build meaningful friendships which will help enhance their social skills development. Here are some reasons why it's important for kids to make friends:

  1. Socialization
Making friends allows kids to learn how to socialize and interact with others. This helps them develop social skills such as communication, problem-solving, empathy, and cooperation. This skill will be highly beneficial for children regardless of any age!

  2. Self-Esteem
Having friends can boost a child's self-esteem and confidence. When children feel accepted and valued by their peers, they are more likely to have a positive self-image. Research has shown that low self-esteem has often lead younger people to develop negative disorders such as depression and anxiety. By building positive self-esteem, we reduce the chances of developing these negative disorders which can plaque the rest of a child's life.

  3. Fun and Enjoyment
Friends provide kids with opportunities to have fun and enjoy their time. Playing games, exploring new places, or just hanging out can create happy memories that last a lifetime.

  4. Exposure to Diversity
Making friends with children from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs can broaden a child's perspective and help them appreciate diversity. These experiences and skill will stay with them for the rest of their lives, allowing them to transfer these useful skills into their next schooling journey and even through to their career.

Overall, having friends helps children develop important social and emotional skills, feel supported, and enjoy life.
