Personal Training is fun, customisable and flexibly!
Looking for a way to accelerate your progress? Be it skills, weight loss or personal growth, our personal training programs will take you there. Let's dive into the benefits of Personal Training

1. Fully Customised Program
Each and everyone of our bodies are different. Here are some factors that differentiate each of us:
  1. Base Metabolism Rate (BMR - how much calories our body consumes at rest)
  2. Muscle Mass
  3. Fat Percentage
  4. Body Type
  5. Heart Rate
  6. ... and much more
With so many factors that differentiate us, a 'one-size-fits-all' workout program may not work for all of us. If that is the case, how then can we get started?

Having a Personal Trainer helps you to cut through all the overwhelming information that beats down on us. With many years of experience and having trained hundreds if not thousands of individuals, your personal trainer can give you professional advice to forge you towards your fitness goals. While it is true that no two programs are alike, there are similarities that can be identified.

With a customised program, tweaks can be made along the way to ensure that you are on the right path to succeed!

2. Flexibility
The fast-paced modern world constantly throws us curveballs. Just as soon as we deal with one, another hurls towards us in our blind spot when we least except it. Such curveballs represent the uncertainties of life that steal our attention and energy from our fitness goals. For example, just as soon as you are about to leave for your workout, your boss calls you in for an 'emergency meeting'. While it is indeed frustrating, many of us choose to prioritize our careers over fitness goal (which is completely understandable).

It is for this reason that Personal Training can offer you the flexibility that you need. If your job requires requires you to work irregular hours or have a hectic schedule, Personal Training is the right fit for you. You don't have to stick to the group class work out schedule, and can exercise as-and-when you need.

Expecting to leave work earlier tomorrow at 4pm? You can schedule a training session at 5pm instead of waiting till 7pm for the group class!

Want to work out at lunch time between 12pm to 1pm? You can schedule a training session and head back to work after a quick lunch!

These are some of the many advantages Personal Training offers you.

3. Accelerate Your Learning
We all learn at a different pace. Some of us grasp concepts quicker, others require more time before fully understanding. With Personal Training, the pace of learning can be adjusted to your needs.

Learning quick and want to learn more skills? Your qualified black belt instructors can teach you at a quicker pace.

Want to focus more on the basics and fundamentals? We can run more drills to enhance learning concepts to strengthen your skills.

Personal Training is available for children and adults, from ages 10 and up!

A safe space to workout

Straits Times - Active Zone, which offers non-combative kickboxing fitness and weight training, started out in 2008 as part of Active Red, a mixed-gender venue.

It rebranded itself as an all-female facility in 2013 as more women were then taking up the sport, and it relocated from the Orchard Road area to Beach Road in 2019, says co-founder Valencia Yip. The 33-year-old represented Singapore at several kickboxing competitions in 2023.

Active Zone is also the Singapore representative for the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations.

Although the pandemic has eroded some of its female client base, which now stands at about 80, it has seen more Muslim women take up the sport in the last two years, notes Ms Yip. Active Zone also offers kickboxing for children.

She says its all-white training space is less intimidating than other kickboxing venues, which usually have black as a dominant colour. Female clients also appreciate that there is no lingering smell of stale sweat, unlike in some other centres.

From losing weight to feeling strong

Women who frequent these all-female gyms and fitness venues say their goals have changed as their bodies transformed.

Ms Sabeera initially enrolled at Active Zone to lose weight, but realised over the last four years that “it’s not about the number on the weighing scale, but rather the strength that you build over time”.

“So my mindset has been more focused on improving my stamina. For instance, how many kicks can I do in a minute or how quickly or how well can I punch on a punching bag or with a partner. It’s really about becoming stronger as an individual,” she adds.

Kickboxing is one of the most exciting workouts you can do, which is fun and burns a ton of calories! Today we'll explore some of the benefits Kickboxing has for women.

1. Cardio Alternative
We all know that cardio is great for building cardiovascular health. But not everyone can crank on the threadmill and run for long periods of time. Kickboxing offers an alternative to the threadmill! By throwing punches and kicks, you'll be moving your entire body throughout the workout session.

Through full-body movements, your heart rate elevates, allowing your heart to work, thereby working your cardio. It's a great way to build cardiovascular fitness and reduce the risks of obesity, heart disease and high blood pressure.

2. Legal to Punch and Kick
Violence is illegal, but what if you're punching or kicking a bag? You definitely won't hurt anyone through your punches and kicks. What's more, you'll experience a surge of endorphins that'll give you a mood boost, leaving you happier and less stressed.

Plus, let's not forget it gives you a legal opportunity to punch and kick!

3. Resistance Training
Kickboxing offers a form of resistance training which is beneficial for women. Women have higher risk of osteoporosis, which can be combated through a well-balanced diet and exercise.

How is kickboxing a form of resistance training? When you punch and kick a bag, you need to engage your muscles to generate power for the techniques. By applying force and exerting on a bag, your muscles are activated as you push through each punch and kick.

Kickboxing is definitely a highly versatile workout that offers reams of benefit for women. Try it out today!

Why Should Women Lift Weights

3/7/2023

There are many benefits to lifting weights for women. Today we will cover the top 5 benefits when it comes to lifting weights or even hitting the gym!
  1. Building Muscle and Strength
Lifting weights can help women build lean muscle mass, which can increase their strength and overall fitness level. Building strength through muscles can help alleviate pains that you feel in your lower back or joints (especially knees).

  2. Boosting Metabolism
More muscles in your body = higher metabolism. You won't become the likes of Arnold arnold Schwarzenegger, think more Gal Gadot in her Wonder Woman movies. Building muscle through lifting weights and exercise will increase metabolism and help you burn more calories throughout the day, even when they're not working out. With an increased metabolism, it will help your weight loss goals to be more sustainable in the future, and especially during seasons when you may not be able to exercise (e.g. due to injury, long-term travel, etc.).

  3. Improve Bone Density
Lifting weights will help to improve bone density. A higher bone density means a reduced risk of osteoporosis, which is a condition that can lead to serious bone fractures and breaks. With higher bone density, you can be rest assured that there's lesser chance of serious injury during falls and this will carry on to your golden years.

  4. Enhance Overall Health
Research has shown that strength training can help improve heart health, lower blood pressure, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes. This will enhance your overall health and improve the quality of life that you will have throughout all stages of your life.

  5. Enhancing Mental Health
Lifting weights and exercise causes your body to produce a naturally-occurring hormone called "endorphins", which boosts your confidence, reduce stress, and improve overall mood. The larger impact will be improved mental health.

Overall, lifting weights and exercise can be a great way for women to improve their overall health and fitness, and can help them achieve their fitness goals. It's important to start with a proper training program and to work with a qualified trainer to ensure proper form and technique.
